Dr. Md. Tarek Uddin, PEng.
Professor
Dr.
Md. Tarek Uddin, PEng. is a Professor at the Department of Civil and
Environmental Engineering of Islamic University of Technology (IUT), Gazipur. He
completed B. Sc. in Civil Engineering from BUET in 1989; M. Eng. in Structural
Engineering and Construction from AIT, Thailand in 1994; and PhD in Concrete
Technology from Tokyo Institute of Technology (TIT) in 1997. He has 30+ years
of working experience in abroad and in Bangladesh as a consultant, a
researcher, and a faculty member of university. He received Young Researcher’s
Award from Japan Concrete Institute (JCI) in 2001 for his outstanding
contribution in the field of durability of concrete in marine environment. He
has 130+ publications in Journals and Proceedings of conferences including ACI
Materials Journal, ASCE Journal of Materials in Civil Engineering, Cement and
Concrete Research Journal, Journal of Advanced Concrete Technology, Journal of
Engineering and Structures, Journal of Construction and Building Materials,
Journal of Ultrasonics, and Journal of Materials, Concrete Structures and Pavements.
He organized several international conferences in the field of concrete
technology in Bangladesh with collaborations from local and international
bodies, such as Japan Concrete Institute (JCI) and Asian Concrete Federation
(ACF). Presently, he is the Chairman of Cement and Cementing Materials
Sub-Committee of BSTI. He is a worldwide renowned researcher in the field of
concrete technology.
His
research scope covers sustainability, durability, and recycling of concrete. He
received the best paper award in the Third International Conference of
Sustainability of Construction Materials and Technologies (SCMT3), Kyoto,
Japan, 2013. Dr. Tarek is also a Professional Engineer (PEng.) in Bangladesh.
He is a member of ACI, BPERB, BSTQM and a life Fellow of IEB. He is a sectorial
committee member (civil engineering) of the Board of Accreditation of
Engineering and Technical Education (BAETE), IEB, Bangladesh. In the IEB
election of 2020, he elected as a Member of Civil Engineering Division of IEB.
