Biography

Dr. Md. Tarek Uddin, PEng. is currently working as the Professor and Head in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering of Islamic University of Technology (IUT), Dhaka, Bangladesh. He has completed his Doctor of Engineering in Concrete Technology from, 1997 Master of Engineering in Structural Engineering 1994 and Construction from and Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from 1989. He has 20+ years of working experience of which Six Years as Professor in Bangladesh, Four Years as Associate Professor in Bangladesh; Four Years as Senior Researcher at Port and Airport Research Institute, Japan; Three Years as Engineering Consultant (Civil) at NEWJEC Inc., Japan; Six Months as Research Associate at AIT, Bangkok, and Two Years and Six Months as Lecturer in Bangladesh. Moreover, He has extensive working experience on research projects related to deterioration of concrete structures, sustainability, life cycle management, and recycling of concrete. Throughout his academic career, Professor Dr. Md. Tarek Uddin, PEng has had an active practice for conducting structural design and supervision works (industrial, office, and residential projects) in Bangladesh and abroad. He has also involvement in organizing local and international workshop, seminar, and conference. He is also prominent for his wisdom on structural health evaluation of concrete structures, repair and retrofitting of deteriorated concrete structures. He is also prominent for his extensive working experience on feasibility study and detail design of hydro-electric power projects in Indonesia, Myanmar, and Thailand.
